broken

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,
"For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are
regarded as sheep to be slaughtered."

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

-Romans 8:31-39 ESV

Last Sunday at church, the band sang "How He Loves Us". Upon the conclusion of the song, Derek read some Scripture, including some of the above passage. In that moment, I broke. I'm not sure what it was, but I just broke.

I haven't been able to let that moment go all week.

Then, at my Wednesday night guys' group, I opened up to them about some stuff. They said, "you've gotta be in the Word".

Typical answer.

But today, I opened up the Bible today and read. And I read. And I read.

Today ended up being a not-so-typical day.

Praise God.

I like your blog.

You come with topics in every direction.
But when push comes to shove, you come from the only direction that matters in life.

"More than conquerors" has been a baffler to me for decades.
It is not so much an "in context" or "out of context" scenario.

A conqueror is a conqueror.
But to be MORE than conquerors is not just extraordinary writing by Paul, it is an extraordinary, nay miraculous, thought.

Wait til you leave early Romans and get to the first two verses of Chapter 12, coupled with Philippians 4:8. A whole life worth living is summend in 3 verses.
What to do; and how to do it.

Please expand again on "more than conquerors" and
( I love it)...without the "typical answer".
